Benefits of Companies and Organisations Recycling Old Computers

Technology is a field notorious  (thankfully I suppose) for it's fast development. Laptops and computers can be said to only hold their 'Top of the range' status for a very short period of time before a superior successor comes along. This does not however mean an upgrade is necessary or should be carried out every time a new range of device are released. However, there will come ax time when the costs of facilitating and updating  old systems to keep up with the demands of latest software will exceed the cost of purchasing an entire new system. This not only saves costs but also drives productivity; better tools for your staff!

Costs

Recycling helps to lower costs. Many companies such as kwam-iT will pay cash for recycling old laptops whilst also ensuring data and sensitive information is ridded of your assets. For example an older HP Folio laptop with a core i5 processor will fetch an average of 100 pounds at kwam-iT, Recycling up to 30 of this can fetch your company a staggering 3000 pounds. This can effectively be put towards the cost of procuring the new assets! Costs are also saved from the need of an IT department looking into devices failing due to their age.

Data Protection

As aforementioned, most recyclers will wipe your assets to military grade standards plus issue you a certificate which proves the level at which each device has been data wiped.

Alienware 17 Review

Hello I'm Olly and I happen to be one of the computer geeks here at Kwam-iT, with the permission of my superior, I have decided to start writing reviews on some of the devices that come through our website. Last week we had the opportunity of processing an Alienware 17 gaming laptop and I was able to get my hands on it for almost 36 hours.

The first thing I noticed about the device was the updated look, compared to the m17 R4 model, Dell have shed a few pounds of the laptop making it appear lighter (I say appear because I still undoubtedly think weight wise, they both still are very similar).  The entire laptop now has a razor like appearance which I think for the first time makes the Alienware laptop less intimidating looking but still have the edgy gaming look. Perhaps Dell are trying to make it more appealing to more people other than gamers.

The laptop tested in question had a Intel Core i7 processor 6th generation with a gtx 980 Nvidida card. It was able to run the Windows 10 operating system flawlessly, the display, a full HD 17 inch screen with a resolution of 1920 X 1080. The keyboard still keeps true to its Alienware style, with a bold appearance, backlit, with buttons big and robust enough to handle the frustration thrown at them by a displeased gamer.

Perhaps one of the most unique selling points for the Alienware line is their ease of customization. With the earlier Alienware 17 laptops, disassembly was trivial. This model with its sleek design makes this daunting. I was able to remove the back bezel which gave access to the motherboard. Things like the hard drive and RAM slots – just like every other laptop. I imagine Dell are gradually phasing out the big robust designs into a more sleek – ‘get what you buy’ type of look.

In conclusion, the new Alienware 17 is a wonderful device, runs and delivers processing and graphics power. It’s an excellent choice for the avid Alienware franchise fan looking to buy something ‘gamy’ with a modern look.
